Shop small this Christmas: Gift Guide 2020

My top five small shops for unique Christmas gifts for your family and friends this year.

Happy Friday, and happy five weeks until Christmas! I'm sorry if I've sent you into panic mode, there's nothing worse than people telling you how they've finished their Christmas shopping when you've not even started.

If it makes you feel any better, I'm very last minute when it comes to Christmas shopping. I'll have ideas in my head, but I won't start buying until December.

Small businesses across the UK will need our support more than ever this year, which is why this week I wanted to share with you a Virtual Shop Small Christmas Market.

I've compiled a list of some of my favourite small shops to purchase Christmas gifts from. Honestly, this list could have gone on forever, and ever and ever. I love so many!

To share some more small business love, please pop other ideas in the comment box below for us all to see. It'll be lovely if we could spread as much awareness about as many small businesses as possible.

In the meantime, happy Christmas shopping! I hope your lockdown weekend is kind to you.

Take lots of care,

Sam x

Small Business Christmas Gift Guide 2020

1. The Freckled Penguin

The fabulous 'The Freckled Penguin' was founded by Carly, a mum of two from Wales. She sells cute and colourful wall art designs for children's bedrooms and playrooms.

Her prints are extremely reasonably priced and make great gifts for children of all ages. There are also some fab prints that can be used for Christmas decorations to make your home extra festive.

2. The Wishbone Collective

Artist, Portia, owns The Wishbone Collective where she sells her beautifully detailed illustrations on educational flash cards, wash bags, eco-wrapping paper, the list is endless.

In fact, I often work with the wonderful Portia to help design some of Popsy and Mama's prints. The most recent being "Cold Play".

I'll certainly be turning to The Wishbone Collective for some eco-friendly wrapping paper and cards this year. The 'Postcard from the North Pole' could be just the ticket to keep my Poppy believing in Father Christmas for another year too!

3. Little Pickles Design

'Little Pickles Design' was set up by two mums that love to travel and have an eye for sustainable products for families. They sell items from their favourite brands including Olli Ella, Maileg and Dear Sophie.

If you're looking for unusual gifts for babies and children this year, this is the shop for you.

Maileg is a favourite of Poppy's and I think we'll definitely have one of their adorable mice jumping onto her list to Father Christmas!

4. Aqotas Sensory Toys

This wonderful mum, who openly talks about bringing up her autistic son, founded 'Aqotas Sensory Toys'. Her main products are original playdough kits that create hours of fun.

I'm particularly in love with the Christmas-themed sets, but her fairy, farmyard and vehicle sets look fabulous too.

I'm sure once you've experience playdough in this way, you'll never go back to the usual plastic-dough-items you find on the high street.

5. The Biscuit Barn

Finally, I had to tell you about 'The Biscuit Barn'. Founded by Emma from Scotland who left high school and didn't know where to go next with her life. Her parents suggested she launched a business doing something she loved, and The Biscuit Barn was born.

All of Emma's products are so fabulous, you will want them all. From Christmas Eve baking boxes to stocking fillers and tasty-gifts for the family. The personalisation available on some of the products make Emma's biscuits even more special. The only problem you'll have is deciding what to buy!
